Ugee 1910B Review.

The Ugee UG1910B, looks really good, it was well packaged inside three boxes. It came with a glove, two pencils, two pencil’s charger cable, a usb cable, a vga cable, installation CD driver, Manual, extra pen nibs and an LCD screen protector. The monitor itself feels very good, the screen is really big and the glass it’s really good, it feels well, and it seems hard.

Now, let’s see it by parts.

Pencil: The pencils are a little bit thinner than the usual pencil and it’s rechargeable, what I don’t like about the pencil it’s the surface, it has a sticky surface around, and the dust gets attach.

Driver: Like I said before, I also have an Ugee M708 which I use a lot. I’m using Windows 7. Said that, I plugged in the VGA cable and the usb cable (in the same port where I also use my M708), I installed the driver from the CD, the icon showed on the tray but when I tried to open it, it didn’t open the tablet properties. So, I removed the driver (which by the way also deleted my other Ugee driver). I installed again the driver in a different usb port (just in case), and this time it opened the tablet properties icon in the Tray, I opened the Tablet Properties and did the pencil calibration and the pencil shortcuts. So, bottom line, if you have another Ugee tablet, you can only have one installed. But I did some research, and I read that if you have a Wacom tablet that you want to keep installed, you actually can! Ugee recommends not to, because the Wacom’s driver can cause issues with Ugee’s driver, but you can keep both if you like.

Monitor: It’s 19 inches, the screen looks and feels sturdy, definitely won’t break any time soon. The screen detects well the pencil and it feels good on the screen. I turned down a bit the brightness of the monitor and it has different settings of color temperature, I set it in Cold for taking care of my eyes.
I set the monitor as a Primary Monitor for having full resolution and I’m using the included VGA connection and the blue usb cable.
At first I had the monitor as a duplicate, so I also was looking In my computer’s monitor and the colors seemed different (I draw in Black and White), so, I sent the drawing I was doing with the Ugee monitor to my email address, and I opened with my iPad, and the colors looks exactly the same in both (Ugee and iPad), but in my computer looks different. So, I think the colors from the Ugee are well, because otherwise, the colors from my iPad would also be looking bad, and I don’t think so. Bottom line, I think the colors are very well so far.
The location for the inputs is terrible!! I think you can only use the monitor in vertical position, in horizontal the cables get in the way and it’s awful. So, if you plan to use the monitor in upright position it will be fine. I use it upright because I look better that way what I’m drawing anyways. And if you plan to use an arm; well you won’t have problems either. There are a lot of different arms for this monitor in Amazon website. In fact, there is a package from Ugee in amazon that the Monitor comes with the arm.

The monitor doesn’t have Express Keys, maybe this could be a big down for you, for me it’s not, I mapped the two buttons from the pencil, and I connect my Bluetooth mini keyboard to my PC and I use the shortcuts with the keyboard. So, for me it’s not a big of a deal, because I found a solution for that, and maybe you can do the same. (I use the mini Bluetooth keyboard because I don’t have my PC on the desk, I have it in a small table next to, so, for using the shortcuts this mini Bluetooth keyboard was the solution). 

Performance: The pencil after calibration, still is a little bit off, it’s not much, I think according to the other reviews it can vary for anyone, at first it was very off, but now it’s a just a tiny little bit, so definitely you can draw very well with it, because anyway you always see where is the cursor, (it’s not like when you’re drawing with the iPad or another tablet that you don’t see where is the cursor, and if the stylus you’re using it’s not accurate, you have to guess where is gonna be the line).
The main software I use to draw is Sketchbook Pro, and so far it works really well, the pressure sensitivity, the brushes, etc. All is working well, the surface feels very smooth and the line is constant when you’re drawing. I’m also trying the app with Word as I’m writing this review.
With ArtRage it works also really well, the pressure sensitivity works like it supposes to. It also works with photography software like Corel Paintshop Pro.

OVERALL:

I think it’s a wonderful Drawing Monitor, it’s $469.99 in the Amazon website, and I think this is an amazing option for professionals and hobbyist artists. It has a good size, it feels good and so far it’s working really well. I haven’t used a Wacom Drawing Monitor, but I don’t think that would be necessary paying tons of money for a monitor, having this great option. For me, the only changes I would, it would be; to change the sticky rubber grip of the pencil for a plastic one, and maybe in the future adding the express keys. I only have had this Ugee Monitor for a few days, but this is a superb drawing monitor and I would recommend it to anyone without hesitate.
