Mini Bluetooth Keyboard Jelly Comb IBK-26IM Review

I bought this mini bluetooth keyboard to use with my Microsoft Surface 3. I didn't buy the Surface keyboard for Surface because I think is way overpriced!
I have a very nice Anker Bluetooth Keyboard that I use with my Surface 3 when I'm using it on a desk.
But I wanted a small keyboard that I can take with me in the same protective sleeve. A keyboard for using key shortcuts, and write just the basics, not much. Like for using it on my bed, on the couch, etc.
So, I found this mini Jelly Comb keyboard, and I thought it was perfect.
It's really thin, lightweight, rechargeable, and fits everywhere. It's exactly what I needed it.

The fact that has Touch Pad, makes it more perfect, it even has the two mouse buttons. So, makes it very useful for the Microsoft Surface, Windows Tablets, or your PC.

OVERALL: I think this is a very nice keyboard if you're looking for something small that you can take in a little pouch, or in the same sleeve you take your tablet.
If you don't need to write much, I think this is perfect for you.
I bought it especially for using it for my Drawing Programs, like Sketchbook Pro, ArtRage, Photoshop, ZBrush, etc. I like to use key shortcuts (as obviously the Surface doesn't have Expressive Keys), you need a keyboard for that, and this little keyboard is perfect for that.

Microsoft Surface 3: An Illustrator Review!

I finally was able to buy the Microsoft Surface 3, I wanted the Pro but my budget was really tight. So, I thought that the Surface 3 was also a very good option.

PROS: -Windows 10.
            -USB.
            -Headphones Jack.
            -Micro Sd Card reader.
-Surface Pen is really accurate for Drawing/Painting.
            -Has its own stand.

CONS: -I got no AC Power Supply.
-You have to buy the Surface Pen for separately.

I bought a Brand New Surface 3 from an Amazon Seller. I got it a few days later.
When I opened the box, for my surprise it was only the Tablet inside, I got No AC Power Supply, even though I bought a brand new, and Not Refurbished; Surface 3. I found in my things, a micro usb cable so I started to charge the tablet because it came without charge. What a surprise!! Without AC Power Supply and without charge!
The tablet itself was in fact Brand New, it was sealed, and in perfect condition. I also bought the Surface 3 Pen.

I downloaded Sketchbook Pro, the Desktop version, I don't like the Tablet app. I only use the Surface in Desktop mode, so I downloaded Sketchbook Pro from Autodesk website. I also downloaded ArtRage Lite, also for Desktop.
It's been really amazing so far! The Sketchbook Pro works like a charm. It's everything I hoped for.
I wanted a tablet with Windows and with Drawing capabilities. I'm always drawing, on my desk, on my bed, at the tv room, etc. And I wanted a Portable "Cintiq", something that I can take with me everywhere without taking my Laptop and my drawing monitors or graphics tablets. Like the "Cintiq Companion" or the new "Wacom Mobile Studio".

I also have an iPad 3, the Sketchbook Pro App, and three pencils (Wacom Intuos Creative Stylus 2, the Pencil by 53, and the Pogo Connect), but it's not the same drawing with the Sketchbook app, than drawing with the Desktop version. Also it's not the same watching where you're drawing, than just try to guess, like it happens with the iPad. But don't get me wrong, I still use my iPad for drawing sometimes, but not for professional use.

So far, I use my Surface for drawing with Sketchbook Pro while I'm also using the iTunes for listening to my music, and sometimes for surfing the net. It says that I get 5 hours of battery fully charged, I always turn it on in the morning and I turn it off by night. And I still use it the next day without charging it. I think it's pretty good.

                       Work in Progress
                          "Kurt Cobain"

I have a fouling glove that I use with my iPad for "Palm Rejection", for using the palm gestures. What I love about the Surface, is that you will see the mouse dot from about 2'' from the screen. So, since the moment I see it in the screen, I rest my palm on the screen and start drawing. Simple like that! The palm rejection works really well!! My only gripe is with the Zoom/Rotate as palm gesture, you have to be careful with this, otherwise you will get some unwanted lines. But if you're using Sketchbook Pro, you can use the Zoom/Rotate Tool using the Right click of the Pen, or if you're using the Keyboard, with the Space key. But, the unwanted lines with the Zoom/Rotate Palm Gestures it's not always, is only that you have to make sure that you're zooming or rotating, instead of making lines with your fingers.

The pressure sensitivity feels good although only recognizes 256 of levels, so, it's not like the Wacom technology, but still I think it makes its job.

Overall:

I bought the Asus Vivo Tab Note 8 with Wacom digitizer, but something happened with the seller that cancelled my order, after my full refund, I took it as a sign!!
So, I bought the Surface 3, and so far, I'm very glad I did! I sold my guitar to buy this tablet, but so far, I have No Regrets!

I just kinda wished that instead of the 10.8'', it would had been so much better, a 12'' screen, but as this Surface is their "Budget Friendly Tablet", it makes it OK. I still think this Surface has a pretty good screen size. The Surface it's not heavy, and has its own kickstand.

I definitely recommend this Surface 3 to any artist/illustrator, graphic designer, etc, who's looking for a portable Drawing Monitor "Cintiq" with Windows for Hobby and Professional use.

Parblo Island A609 Review

I received my Parblo Island A609 a few days ago.
I have some drawing monitors from a different brand, but I wanted a graphics tablet I could take with me with my laptop, bigger than my Wacom Intuos Draw.
The item itself looks really great, I really like the fact that the pen is battery free, and it's also very light.
The tablet has four programmable expressive keys, and the pen has two, even though you couldn't choose exactly what key you wanted for the pen.

Unboxing: It came in a box right for the size. When you open the box of the Parblo Island A609, you'll find: The Graphics Tablet in a plastic sleeve, the pen, 5 replacement tips, a tip remover, the USB cable tied to the Graphics Tablet and the User Manual. You have to download the driver from www.parblo.com

Set Up and Expressive Keys:
Like I said before you have to download the driver from Parblo's website (www.parblo.com)

FYI: I have installed in my laptop two drawing monitor from a different brand and my Wacom graphics tablet, the drawing monitors and the Wacom can work with my computer without erasing their drivers. They all have been working well together!

Let's see the issues that I had with this Parblo: When I installed it the driver which you have to download from their website, I thought it looked good, never asked me while installation that it was gonna delete my other Tablet's Drivers, BUT..... IT DID.It deleted my drawing monitors drivers without consulting, and still without the other tablet's drivers, the Parblo never worked well, the pressure sensitivity wasn't there! I tried everything and it never worked the pressure sensitivity with Sketchbook Pro, the program I always use.The worst part is that, when I tried again to install the drivers of my drawing monitors, it was a disaster, now they're not working like they used to before. I had to make a system recovery, but it's not the same!! They're not working the way I liked it....And the Parblo, well, it depends, if you're willing to work without the pressure sensitivity, it will be fine for you, if you're not, well it might be a problem for you. I thought I was not gonna have problems with my other Drawing Monitors because they're from different brands, but it was a total disaster, and the Parblo even though the drivers from different tablets were deleted (by the Parblo's driver), the Parblo never worked well.

BUT...after fighting with this graphics tablet with my computer, I finally was able to tested it in my Dad's computer, it WORKED!

I installed the driver from their website, deleted old tablet's driver, and started working.
You find the installation driver in your Start Menu, and it opens a window where you select you can map your tablet's 4 expressive keys, I selected my favorites short cuts for these. Then, you choose Pen, and map the 2 buttons, I couldn't choose exactly the short cuts I wanted, I kept one button to the Right Click, and the other one does nothing. (I wanted the eraser for that button, but there wasn't for option), which was kind of a bump.

Drawing with the Island A609:

The pressure sensitivity worked like it supposes to, and again... the pen feels really light and smooth. The surface of the tablet is very smooth, and it feels really good.
I opened the software I use, Sketchbook Pro, and I started to draw, the pressure sensitivity worked really well and the tablet just felt great with the pen.

I also use the tablet with the software ArtRage, and worked also perfect with this software.

OVERALL: Still, after having issues with my laptop, I think this a good and affordable graphics tablet for amateurs or artists who are beginning with the digital art.

Ugee HK1560 Review

I got my new HK1560 a couple of days ago. I have to say that I got good impressions at first.
I wanted a drawing monitor smaller than the one I use on my desk (19''), for using it on my bed.

This drawing monitor has a great size, it has HDMI, so it supports 1080 resolution. The screen is really nice and smooth, it came with a screen protector you have to put on. It also came with two pencils and its chargers. The pencil is very accurate, and the monitor was easy to install.
So far, it's been working really well with the software I use; Sketchbook Pro.

Pros:
-Portable (Light and good size) A laptop messenger bag (17'') will work for this.
-Accurate Pencil.
-Driver is the same than other monitors from Ugee (you can have two drawing monitors installed)
-HDMI connection.
-Adjustable stand.
-Came with a Glove (always helpful).

Cons:
-No expressive keys!!! (This is necessary)
-Three separate cables (AC, USB, HDMI), instead of 3 in 1. (Maybe usb powered)
-It came with a nice screen protector that you have to put on, BUT.... the pencil makes awful sounds when touch the protector, so I had to remove it.

Hopefully, Ugee will try to have their new drawing monitors with Expressive keys, I think they will realize that this is MUST in their drawing monitors, and hopefully, they will listen to their buyers!

Despite the Cons, you can't go wrong with this monitor, I think it has a great and affordable price comparing with some other brands with even smaller screens. It's more portable 'cause of its size, and the screen looks really good. This is a great buy if you're needing an affordable and not that big drawing monitor.

Tombow Dual Brush Markers

I recently bought the Tombow Dual Brush Marker in Grey Scale Palette.
I do Portraits in Black and White, so I wanted some markers that I can use for painting portraits, instead of graphite pencils. I want to use both techniques.
I decided for these markers. I like the fact that you can have dual brush, a fine tip for one side, and a soft brush for the other.

Pros:
-Dual Brush.
-Includes a Blender.
-Good Price.
-Good size, it's a long pencil.
-Feels comfortable.

Cons:
-If you have two layers, the second one will bleed.
-There are some colors that are pretty much alike.
-Instead of numbers, they should bring the percentage of Grey.

OVERALL: I think these are great markers, they're not expensive, it brings 10 for $14. The Copics, Prismacolor, or Faber Castell might be a better choice, but for this price, you would only get 8 or less. I think this is a good alternative for someone with small budget and who's starting painting with markers.

PNBOO Light Traced Pad A4!

Well, a few days ago I received the PNBOO Light Traced Pad A4. So far I can say it's really awesome!
It's really comfortable to use and to carry everywhere you want. let's take a look!

Hardware: This one is A4 size, it measures 14'' x 10''. And of course it's really thin as you expect.
It came in a big box almost of the same size, it was well packaged, well protected. It came in a plastic sleeve and with hard plastic on it for better protection. The screen had also a screen protector that you have to remove.
Inside there was the PNBOO Light Traced Pad A4 with a black glove and the AC adapter. As a gift you receive also a pack of 10 sheets for tracing. The screen is really hard glass, with rubber parts under for avoid movement of the light traced pad. The ON/OFF button, is on the left side, along with the + and - buttons, when you press the "+" button, it will help turn on the brightness. And the "-" button it will help you to reduce brightness.Of course, keep in mind that the with more brightness, the better is for tracing.
You also have to keep in mind that the most brightness level it's really bright, so it would be good if can take care of your eyes.

Use: I'm divided in this area, I mean, it works really great! The size of this makes it really comfortable to take it with you wherever you go.
But, I usually draw Portraits, so, I use my Blank Sheets in a vertical position, so you have to also use the Light Pad in a vertical position, otherwise the Sheet won't fit in. I use 9'' x 12'' sheets, and they fit just right in the light pad, but like I said if you draw in a vertical position, you also have to move the light pad in the same position. The problem with this is the location of the Adapter for the AC cable, and the location for the buttons, they will be now in the upper part, and when you put a holder for the sheets, the sheet will be now ON the buttons, and this will cause to turn off and on the light pad.
So... I had to change the position of the Light pad, still in the vertical position but now with the button in the lower part, now the sheets won't be on top of the buttons, but is a little uncomfortable to have the AC cable at the lower. Still, for me it's a wonderful light traced pad, and the majority of the light pads of different brand has the AC adapter and the buttons in the same side, just as this one.

The screen feels great, the surface doesn't get hot, and you can get all the details very well, I used a printed old photograph in Black & White of Marilyn Monroe (75g sheet) and it worked really great for tracing the outlines(Blank Sheet; 90g). What I really like of this Light Traced Pads, is that all the light is continuos in all the screen. Every area is lighted.

Overall:I think this is a great small Light Traced Pad, it's comfortable to take with you, it doesn't get hot, it's easy to use and it's not heavy.
One of the best parts of this light traced pad it's the size for travel, I found a sleeve of a laptop for the Light Pad and it fits just perfect!
This is a great gear for all artists, it's very light and easy to carry everywhere. It's comfortable and it does its job, it's really bright and an excellent tool for tracing.

PNBOO Light Traced Pad A3!

I received my PNBOO Light Traced Pad A3 a couple of days ago.

My first impression was of awesomeness, this thing is really huge!! I didn't expect that! But it's not heavy, I think it's actually light for its size.

Hardware:
The measures are; 19'' x 14.5''. And of course it's really thin.
It came in a big box almost of the same size, it was well packaged, well protected. It came in a plastic sleeve and with hard plastic on it for better protection. The screen had also a plastic protector that needs to be removed.
Inside there was the PNBOO Light Traced pad, a black glove and the AC adapter. Also it came with it a pack of drawing sheets.
The screen is really hard glass, It seems it's gonna last a really long time!.
You can find three buttons, the ON/OFF, and the + and -, it will help you graduate the brightness you want. Of course the more brightness, the better for tracing. The most brightness level it's really bright, so it would be good if you watch your eyes, I always use glasses when I use my PC for a long time, and in this case I use my glasses too for tracing.

Functions:
I really really like that I never felt the screen getting Hot, it's really uncomfortable if you're doing some tracing and feel that your hand starts to burn, but with THIS light pad, it's NOT the case. I always felt really comfortable!
I printed a photo of Marilyn Monroe, as it is an old picture, it wasn't the best quality of course. I printed in Black and White and I started to do the tracing for the outlines. It was great! I could see all the outlines and details of the photograph.
All the light that you get is continuous in all the screen, every part of the screen is lighted!

Overall:
I think this is a wonderful light traced pad, it's big but not uncomfortable. Doesn't get Hot, and it's really bright. It was easy to use, and it's very helpful for my drawing technique. I used a 75g m/2 printed photograph, and a blank sheet of 90g m/2.
The only downside for me it was that it didn't came with a case or sleeve for it. It's a big size so it's hard to get a cover or sleeve for this.
I think instead of the drawing sheets that came with it (worthless for me), I would've rather a nice sleeve for my light pad.
But other than that, I think the Light Pad it's a wonderful tool for my art gear and for any artist!

Ugee HK1060 Drawing Tablet Review!

The Ugee HK1060 looks really amazing. It has a new innovative look and is a little bit bigger than the M708 drawing tablet.
It was well packaged inside two boxes. Inside the drawing tablet’s box it came: the drawing tablet, the CD driver, the Manual, the pencil (needs one AAA battery), the usb cable, the pencil holder and the 8 replacements tips.
The tablet itself had a removable screen protector, and the part where are the hot keys came with a removable protector also.
Now, let’s see it by parts:

1-Pencil: The pencil is a little bit thick, it has two programmable buttons, and it need the one AAA battery mentioned before. Even though is a little bit thick, it feels comfortable, it’s made of plastic, but the surface feels very smooth. The pencil tip is also made of plastic, so it worn fast, but is still very useful, and you have 8 additional tips.

2-Looks: Like I wrote before, the drawing tablet looks really good, it has a new and very innovative look, and definitely it looks more professional.
It’s also bigger, although it has the same 10” by 6” inches in the drawing surface, it’s bigger than the M708 drawing tablet, but still very comfortable and really sturdy.
The whole measures are 14” by 9 ½”.  I tried my laptop’s sleeve with the HK 1060 and it fits perfect.
The usb mini port looks also different, it has like a little entrance, and the usb cable fits right, a little bit tight, but not too much, it’s still easy to take in and take out.
Ugee also added a little pencil’s “fabric holder” by the right side, I tried to fit the pencil and it was really tight, so it’s not very useful, but also you don’t really need it.

3-Driver: I installed the HK1060 in my dad’s computer, it uses Windows 7. I didn’t install it in my laptop because unfortunately, you can’t have two tablets from the same brand installed in your computer. This is because probably, both are gonna use the same driver.
I have my amazing Ugee 1910B installed in my laptop, so I couldn’t installed the HK 10160, so I installed it in my dad’s computer and He’s gonna use it.
It was very easy to install, even though it says in the Manual to insert the CD first and install it, I don’t recommend that. FIRST you connect your KH 1060 to a usb port in your computer, and then insert the CD driver and make the installation, then Reset your computer. And that’s it, you’re ready to go.
Then you find the tablet’s icon in your tray, and you click in there and it will open the tablet’s Preferences, you try the pressure sensitivity and then you can map all the hot keys according to the software’s shortcuts. (The software you’re gonna use).
I tried the HK 1060 with my favorite software, Autodesk’s Sketchbook Pro, I installed it my dad’s computer and it worked flawlessly with the tablet, the hot keys with the shortcuts, and the pencil was really accurate.
I also tried the easy and simple Microsoft software; Paint. My dad uses it sometimes (meanwhile I’m teaching him how to use Sketchbook), in Paint the hot keys didn’t work, but that’s probably because I don’t know the shortcuts for Paint, but the pencil worked really well, my dad was delighted in how easy is the tablet to use.
I also tried the HK 1060 with Corel Paint Shop Pro, it’s the Photography’s software I like to use, and it also worked flawlessly. I didn’t try the tablet with Photoshop, but that’s because my dad’s computer doesn’t have it installed it. But my guess is that it also can work with it well.

OVERALL:  The tablet is working really well so far, it was easy to install, the surface feels good, and the pencil is accurate. It’s big but comfortable, easy to carry around, it’s not really heavy.
You can compare this tablet with any other Pro tablet from another brand, and this one would be the best in the market. For its size and the hot keys you can find the Wacom Intuos Pro, but that costs between $300 and $500, and this HK1060 costs not even the half of that.
It’s an incredible tablet for an amazing price! It’s definitely for those who are looking something Pro but with a small budget.
I would definitely recommend this drawing tablet to anybody and for any use!

Cosmos Hardshell Stylus Pencil Case Review!!

I bought this Cosmos hardshell case for my drawing pencils.
I have a Pogo Connect One pencil ($9) and a Pencil by 53 ($40). And both didn't come with a case.
I used an old case for glasses, but the lid was not working well anymore, and the pencils moved a lot.
So, I bought it for both of my pencils, and thinking that I could get into other things; like my glove and replaceable tips.

As you can see in the images there is enough room for 2 or 3 large pencils, and I even put the small box where I take my replaceable tips, all that in one side, and in the other side I put my glove that I use for drawing (it helps me to move the screen free without turning off the multi-gestures)
Everything is in place and well protected!

The Cosmos case is hardshell, so if it falls or you just hit it, it's gonna keep safe your pencils.
It's not really large (just a little larger than your glasses's case), and as you can see it's thin, so it's easy to carry around in a bag or a purse.
It's a really nice case, I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a case to protect their regular pencils, or their drawing pencils like the Pogo, the Pencil by 53 or the Apple Pencil.

Pogo Connect One R1 TIPS.

Where to begin.... Let's see! I really had such High Hopes withe these...

I have my Pogo Connect 1 Pencil since December, I use it a lot and the orginal R3 tip that came with it have just started to break a little bit, so I wanted to buy some new tips for having as a spare. (The Pogo Connect 1 Pencil only comes with one tip, and not replacement).

First when I tried these R1 tips with my Pogo Connect 1, didn't work really well, the pressure sensitivity was really awful, I used the pencil hard and I could barely see the lines. So I contacted support and they asked me about downloading the Pogo Connect app, I did, I chose the R1 tip, and change the parameters (pressure amount and sensitivity) to the highest I could.

That changed everything, the R1 tip started working as it supposes to.

I'm not a professional illustrator, I work as a Freelance Portrait Illustrator, and I draw also for fun, I use an iPad 3, and the Sketchbook Pro app.

Said that.... I only have used my Pencil with the new R1 tip for ONE DAY and it's already breaking the rubber and tearing apart. And the pencil disconnects more than usual. Usually with the original tip, the R3, it disconnects sometimes, but it's not very often, with this R1 tip it disconnects a lot! And the battery is almost brand new, so I don't think that is normal.

So, I just bought a pair of the originals R3 tips, I'm waiting to get them, let's hope these can work well. I liked the R1 when I saw them because they were thinner, so I though "Hey that's helpful", well.... It was not!!!.
I'll review the R3 when I get them.

Working on a project!

That's Me!! Working on my personal project, "The Mad Hatter".
I really like Alice in Wonderland, and now with the new movie out, I just had to do Johnny Depp.
It's the second time I draw Johnny Depp, but this is the first time that I draw him in a character.

Wacom Intuos Creative Stylus 2 Review

This stylus, it's about $60 in the Amazon website.
It comes in a sturdy case with a nib replacement and remover and the usb charger. It's compatible with almost all drawing apps, I usually only use the Sketchbook Pro app and the ArtRage app with my iPad 3.
A few months ago, I did other reviews of two stylus, the Pogo Connect One and the Pencil by 53.
Now, let's see how the Wacom works:
The main reason why I led my eyes on this pencil it's because the thin nib. It's a hard tip and very thin, so I thought this would help me with my drawings, especially because I do portraits, so with the thin lines or details, I thought this would be very helpful!! Wait..... No!!  I was wrong!
The stylus is way off where you're making the line, it only works better when you really zoom the drawing, but otherwise it's gonna be really off.
I think this stylus works better with Sketchbook than with ArtRage, but as it's not very accurate, it's hard to draw, and very often you're gonna get ghost lines. I basically just have been using the stylus only for shading, or with big brushes, because if you plan to use it for details, you're gonna be frustrated!
The stylus has two buttons, this is a plus because other pencils only have one button or don't have at all. It's also thin, so it feels good in my hand, but.... it's a big shame when you're expecting so much and get so little.
I think this stylus is barely just fine, and when I say fine, I mean it if the price would be adequate for it, but for $60 and in some places $100??? That's too much, because it's not any brand, it's Wacom, and you always expect the best from this brand.
I think my $9 Pogo Connect is way better than this, and even with the rubber tip that has.
So, bottom line is, if you think you're gonna get a wonderful stylus? You're not. I think it's better even if you don't pay much for a stylus, and even this is compatible with a lot of apps, it's not with every iPad. So, it's up to you!
